100th anniversary of the St. Mary’s Boat Club

Built in 1905, the boat club was originally operated by the Young Men's Temperance & Benevolent Society. It was established as the St. Mary's Boat Club in 1919. Currently, the facility is host to various receptions, summer camps, and canoe, kayak and stand up paddle board rentals. The celebrations will include free canoe rentals, a performance by the Halifax Boys Honour Choir and light refreshments. St. Mary's Boat Club, 1641 Fairfield Road, Halifax. The Rolling Stones release ‘Satisfaction’ in 1965

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is a song by  The Rolling Stones, released in 1965. It was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. Richards' five-note guitar riff—‌intended to be replaced by horns—‌opens and drives the song. Keith Richards wrote "Satisfaction" in his sleep and recorded a rough version of the riff on a Philips cassette player. He had no idea he had written it. He said when he listened to the recording in the morning, there was about two minutes…
