The municipality runs elections for Mayor and Council, as well as the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. On Saturday, October 5, 2019 there will be a special election in HRM District 15, Lower Sackville to fill the vacant Council seat. Advance polling dates will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 and Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Alexander Keith’s birthday

Alexander Keith (5 October, 1795 – 14 December, 1873) was the founder of Alexander Keith's Brewery, a businessman, and politician. After learning the brewing trade from his uncle in Northern England, Keith immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1817 and became manager at a brewery, which he bought out in 1820.
