Bats and Builders Annual Softball Tournament 2024
Founded by Laura Elliot Allen and Sherry Donovan, The Bats & Builders Softball Tournament supports the SHYM Program at the YWCA. The SHYM Program, Supportive Housing for Young Mothers, offers long-term housing, parenting support, and life skills development for young single mothers ages 16 to 24. Through guided goal planning and wraparound supports, participants can begin to dream and work towards the future they want for themselves and their family.

Holiday Parade of Lights
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 5:00 pm, Downtown Halifax will celebrate the 29th annual Nova Scotia Power Holiday Parade of Lights, presented by Eastlink and hosted by the Holiday Parade of Lights Society. This beloved event draws tens of thousands of spectators eager to experience the sights and sounds of this highly anticipated kickoff to the holiday season. The shoebox project is a nationwide initiative that collects and delivers shoeboxes filled with everyday essentials and little luxuries for homeless women across Nova Scotia. On Monday Dec 9th at Sackawa Canoe Club we are asking people to come with donations for the shoeboxes or just to help us pack the shoeboxes.
