Easter Monday is a public holiday in 3 provinces and 3 territories, where it is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed. Unfortunately, Nova Scotia is NOT one of those provinces.

What are you getting your mother this Mother’s Day? Common gifts include: cards, flowers, meals in restaurants, jewelry, gift cards, clothing, trips to a spa, books, CDs, housewares and even gardening tools. In what was formerly Yugoslavia, children would tie up their mother on Mother’s Day. The only way she could get free would be to pay her children with treats.

CANADA DAY

Canada Day recognizes the birthday of our country. On July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act - formerly known as the British North America Act. The name “Canada” comes from the Huron-Iroquois word “Kanata” meaning “village” or settlement.” Today is one of those days where we get to take a look into the telescopes of the past. NS PINK SHIRT DAY

This is the ORIGINAL wear pink day The day is celebrated on the second Thursday in September with schools across the province holding anti-bullying events and students wearing pink. The inspiration for Stand Up Against Bullying Day came from two Grade 12 students at Central Kings Rural High School in Cambridge, Kings Co.
