Federal funding to develop drugs for rare diseases
Ottawa is putting $3 million into making Dalhousie University a hub of research and development into rare diseases.
The money will go to a project aimed at helping people historically left without drug treatments because drug companies don’t consider the small market financially viable.
Dal will work with other partners to develop three biotechnology start-ups to get new drug treatments to the market for inherited childhood diseases, including the inherited form of Parkinson’s, and muscular dystrophies.
