New Mi’kmaq protest against gas caverns

A small band of Mi’kmaq have occupied a small island in the Shubenacadie River to protest the plans for a natural gas storage project.

A Mi’kmaq flag went up along with tent poles. The Mi’kmaq say they are setting up a fishing trap under their treaty rights.

The company called RCMP saying access to the site is restricted for safety reasons.
