DESCRIPTION:Released on this day in 1993\, River of Dreams is the twelfth and final studio album by Billy Joel. \nThe album presented a more serious tone than found in Joel’s previous albums\, dealing with issues such as trust and long-lasting love. \nSince the release of the album\, Joel stopped recording studio albums.  He continues to tour\, record occasional singles and released a classical album featuring solo piano performed by Hyung-ki “Richard” Joo titled Fantasies & Delusions in 2001. \nThe album cover was a painting by Joel’s then-wife\, Christie Brinkley. \nIn 1993\, Rolling Stone gave her the Top Picks award for “The Best Album Cover of the Year”. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Duran Duran Appreciation Day celebrates the English new wave and synthpop band\, Duran Duran. \nIt has been celebrated since at least 2003 when YM Magazine declared the day.\nSome sources say the day was created by a Michigan disc jockey and is celebrated on his birthday. Other sources say it takes place on August 10 because it was on that date in 1985 when lead singer Simon Le Bon was involved in a near-fatal boating accident. \nFans celebrate the day\, and the band has also been involved\, by hosting trivia contests on their Twitter\, posting messages to their fans\, and sharing videos\, song snippets\, and MP3 downloads with them. \n
