Subsequently\, he embarked on a huge solo career. The name “Billy Idol” was inspired by a schoolteacher’s description of him as “idle”. Billy is a vegetarian. He doesn’t eat meat\, but does wear leather. The video for Idol’s hit song “Dancing with Myself” was directed by Tobe Hopper\, the director of the original 1974 version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Idol had a cameo role in Adam Sandler’s 1998 film The Wedding Singer. Idol was the first musician to include an email address in the liner notes for an album. \n
