What do you do? The grocery store is open but there are no employees
I haven’t heard about this even though it happened right here in the Great White North! American news networks are reporting on a grocery store in Kingston, Ontario with the Fox News headline reading:
Canadian shoppers leave cash, IOU notes for food at unlocked grocery store
On February 18th- Family Day in Ontario, the grocery store was accidentally opened with no staff inside. When shoppers entered the store and realized there were no staff, they left cash and notes for the workers upon their return to inform them they had taken supplies.
The store’s manager said he was relieved he didn’t have to report any goods as stolen.
People are hailing the incident as representative of the country’s national reputation as rule-followers. One shopper summed it up nicely: “That’ Canada for you!”
